Volker Daniel – 

die kleine Welt ganz groß.

 

 

Volker Daniel liebt das Verspielte und Freie der kleinen Matchboxautos.

Er hat noch genaue Erinnerungen an die Autos im Maßstab 1/64 und wie er als kleiner Junge für sein Taschengeld mit den kleinen Kopien in Pappschachteln die Vision des Zugangs zur großen Welt erwarb. Viele Jahre später wurde durch Flohmarkbesuche mit den eigenen Kindern eine riesige Sammlung geschaffen.

 

Die Idee, daraus Bilder zu kreieren, gründet auf der Lust des kreativen Schaffens. Volker Daniel ist als Architekt und Fotograf immer auf der Suche nach Gestaltung. Durch Formationen und Kunstlicht schafft er grafische Kompositionen – mal detailverliebt, mal perspektivisch, mal streng strukturiert. 

Durch Schärfe und Unschärfe entsteht Leichtigkeit. Mal ist nicht eindeutig, dass das Motiv ein Spielzeug ist, mal entsteht eine Struktur, die ausschließlich künstlich geschaffen anmutet. Es entstehen Stimmungen, farbige Kompositionen mit Störungen und Harmonien. 

 

Volker Daniel hat nach einer handwerklichen und gastronomischen Karriere Architektur studiert. Seine zweite Leidenschaft Fotografie galt lange Zeit der Architektur, bevor er das Immobile um das Mobile ergänzte. Durch die Matchboxautos lebt er seine rein künstlerische Entfaltung aus.

A great little world.

 

Volker Daniel loves the playfulness and freedom of matchbox cars. He still has vivid memories of the 1:64 scale models and remembers how, as a young boy, he used his pocket money to get one step closer to the big real world with the miniature cars contained in those little cardboard boxes. Many years later, and after numerous visits to flea markets with his own children, a huge collection was established.

 

The idea of creating images based on these cars stems from Volker’s desire to be creative. As an architect and photographer, he is always interested in design. Through formations and artificial light, he creates graphic compositions - sometimes intricate, sometimes revealing perspective, sometimes strictly structured. Lightness is achieved through sharpness and blurriness. Sometimes it’s not apparent that the subject matter is a toy, and sometimes a structure emerges that seems to have been created completely artificially. There is atmosphere, colourful compositions with disturbance and harmonies.

 

Volker Daniel studied architecture following a career in craftmanship and hospitality. For a long time, his second passion, photography, focused on architecture, before he added the mobile to the immobile. It’s his passion for toy cars that has given him a vehicle for pure artistic expression.
